What: The Learn and Serve Bus Trip is a hands-on, educational mission opportunity that will take participants from Illinois to volunteer at the CWS warehouse in New Windsor, MD. The warehouse is where CWS blankets and kits are collected, packed and shipped to those in need. Participants will also learn about fair trade and the life-saving work of SERRV as we volunteer in the International Gift Shop Warehouse.

The bus will leave from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Joliet, IL. En route we will learn about the work of Church World Service, enjoy fellowship and rest. Each morning will include devotions and there will be down time in the evenings for conversation, games or quiet time. One evening will include a presentation by Joan Maruskin who is the Religious Services Program Administrator for the CWS Immigration and Refugee Program. The trip is open to anyone, but volunteers should be able to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, and be able to walk up a hill to reach the warehouse (approx. one city block).
